Carbonation ChamberCO2 mineralization in Concrete

Our lab focuses on COâ‚‚ mineralization technologies that convert industrial COâ‚‚ emissions into stable carbonates within cementitious systems. By utilizing industrial waste, calcium silicates, and supplementary materials, we accelerate the carbonation process to permanently sequester COâ‚‚ while enhancing concrete performance.

Blended Cements

Our research advances blended cement systems by incorporating Portland limestone, carbon-rich products, slags, coal ash, and novel supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs). These blends reduce clinker content and COâ‚‚ emissions while enhancing durability and performance.

Our research aligns with evolving policy frameworks aimed at achieving net-zero emissions in the cement sector. We explore both production-side policies—such as R&D support, tax incentives, carbon pricing, and emissions standards—and use-side policies like incentives for recycling and building codes that mandate embodied carbon limits.
