Social Work Licensing

After completion of your degree in social work, we urge students to sit for licensure at the appropriate level.  In the State of Virginia, social workers can be licensed at the Baccalaureate (Bachelors), Clinical, and/or Master's Level.  It is best that applicants initially contact the to receive up to date information on the licensing process.  If you are a potential or current student, please see the Licensing Disclosures posted here on our website and contact the social work board where you want to be licensed to ensure our degree programs qualify for licensure in your jurisdiction.

MSW Graduates – Verification of Education Form


If you are requesting a Verification of Education form for licensure purposes, please submit the form to mswlicensing@nsu.edu for review and completion.

  • The form can be found on the Virginia Board of Social Work website under       .
  • For those pursuing Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credentials, additional details are available at .
  • The Verification of Education & Field Placement/Practicum Hours is located under Step.
  • Complete the top portion of the form prior to submission

Once submitted, please allow up to one week for processing and completion.

QMHP

The Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHP) credentialing process is administered by the .  It is best that applicants initially contact the Virginia Department of Health Professions Board of Counseling to receive up to date information on the process.  If you completed your BSW or MSW degrees here at É«½äÖ±²¥, please contact the Office of Field Instruction for verification of internship hours ONLY. Contact the Director of BSW Field Education, Dr. Sonya Robinson (srobinson@nsu.edu)
